Cabin tents are big, roomy and strong. The rectangular footprint makes efficient use of the campsite and the near vertical walls allow the occupants to make the most of the floor space. The centre peaked ridge provides good headroom throughout the length of the tent.
Modern tent canvas is a blend of cotton and polyester yarns impregnated with a waterproof treatment. It is a highly effective waterproof barrier that sheds water from it’s surface. When used for Cabin and Tourer style tents with tubular steel poles, the tent forms a very strong and robust structure. The reason why it can be used as a single skin format is because cotton allows the fabric to breathe. That also makes it perfect for swags.
Once you get your new tent home, it is important to condition the tent. Simply pitch your tent and wet it down with your garden hose. The needle holes shrink around the thread. The canvas fabric also benefits from this because the cotton swells into the weave and the waterproof treatment settles within the fabric. Let the tent dry completely before doing it a second time. Always pack your tent away dry.
SatProof 600+ Canvas (340g/m2)
The waterproofing agent is saturated throughout the Canvas, which means that even after wear and tear it will still be a waterproof barrier. SatProof 600+ offers a minimum of 600mm hydrostatic head, which makes it a superior waterproof canvas. It is a breathable fabric, therefore reducing the effects of condensation. The pores in the cotton allow water vapour to pass through but are too small for water droplets to enter.
